SeizureSmart Schools – Introduction to Epilepsy for Educators

Where a person has a duty of care for an individual living with epilepsy this introductory eLearning module will provide teachers with the underpinning knowledge required to support students living with epilepsy, while also developing a better understanding of their student and the impacts of living with epilepsy on the individual. Where the individual living with epilepsy has been prescribed emergency medication staff will also require training in the administration of emergency medication.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand facts about epilepsy
  • Identify seizure types and what seizure activity may look like
  • Understand the Seizure Management Planning process
  • Know basic first aid responses for seizures
  • Understand the potential impacts of epilepsy on the lives of people living with epilepsy
  • Course Duration: 60-90 minutes
