SeizureSmart Schools online learning modules have been developed to support students, teachers, and schools and provide them with the knowledge and practical strategies to support children who live with epilepsy in an educational setting.
Every child’s experience of epilepsy is different and therefore supporting them at school will require an individualised approach. By becoming a SeizureSmart School you can demonstrate that your school has a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
This online learning module is an introduction to Understanding Epilepsy for Educators, enabling all teachers to develop the knowledge required to provide appropriate support to students who live with epilepsy.
The course can be completed online at your own pace and a personalised certificate is available for download upon completion. There are also additional classroom resources available for download.
FREE Training Available
We have funding for schools in South Auckland, Tauranga, Eastern Bay Of Plenty and Manawatu Horowhenua. If your school is located in these regions, you can access free training by emailing the full names and e-mails of teaching staff to seizuresmart@epilepsy.org.nz
If your school is outside of the currently funded areas, we welcome registrations through the portal below.

Online learning cost
0 – 5 Participants – $40 per person
6 – 10 Participants – $32 per person
11+ Participants – $25 per person.
Tip: as you add more participants, the cost will automatically adjust in the payment portal.
As we want SeizureSmart training to be accessible for all, subsidies are available upon application. We may be able to fund up to 50 % of your school’s training costs.
