Purple Day 2023

What is Purple Day ?

The concept of Purple Day was initiated by a nine-year-old named Cassidy Megan, and was motivated by her own struggle with epilepsy.
The first Purple Day event was held on March 26, 2008, and is now known as the Purple Day for Epilepsy campaign

Becoming a Purple Day Hero is important because your support will empower people throughout New Zealand
to create a society where there is better understanding of epilepsy to reduce stigma and discrimination.

The object of your event is to raise awareness of Epilepsy and to support people you know who live with epilepsy.

Purple Day events and fundraisers can be any day in March , it doesn’t  have to be on the 26th.

This year we have a selection of fundraising activities below to choose from, along with ideas to create your own. Each of the activities has its own registration form which we ask that you send through to us once you have decided what you’d like to do.

This information will link to our marketing team who can send you resources to help with your event.

Each activity includes resources to download and print.

All support over the month is very welcome.

For more information and enquiries, please contact national@epilepsy.org.nz

Become a Purple Day Hero and join us in raising awareness for people living with epilepsy in New Zealand.

We would love your support

Building awareness and Fundraise at shopping centres

Now that we are able to  mix and mingle freely, why not set up a table at your local shopping centre and build awareness through  information sharing and collection.

Most shopping centres require this to be booked in advance so please make sure you ask first.

Your local educator may be able to help with pull up banners and information for  a display. Please find a list of the national team contacts here.
