Thanks to everyone that registered for the Seizure Smart Workplace Pilot .We have had a fantastic response.

We are now working through the feedback received and will make any amendments or modifications and will add this course to the other Seizure Smart online learning opportunities.

FAQ’s

  • How long does the training take – approx. 30-40 mins.
  • Do I need to complete all of it – yes , it will not move you onto the next section without completing the first.
  • Do I get a certificate at the end – yes there is a generic one available to download but when the portal is live, it will have the ability to personalise it with a specific name.
  • Is it free – From September it will be a paid model at a cost of $40 per individual and discounted rates for over 5 people.

 Seizure Smart training for workplaces offers evidence-based and person-centred online learning modules, aimed at helping employers and colleagues understand epilepsy and how they can support an employee and/or customers in their workplaces who live with epilepsy.

There are two modules available: Working with Epilepsy for Colleagues and Working with Epilepsy for Managers

Working with Epilepsy for Colleagues

This module is a general guide about epilepsy in the workplace and covers strategies for work colleagues to use when working alongside a person living with epilepsy.

Topics Covered:

What is and what causes epilepsy

    1. Living with epilepsy
    2. Myths and misconceptions
    3. Discussing epilepsy and reasonable adjustments
    4. Seizure types and first aid

Working with Epilepsy for Managers

This module is a general guide to employers about epilepsy in the workplace. The module covers the workplace responsibilities and legal obligations of employers along with strategies for use with employees living with epilepsy.

Topics Covered:

What is and what causes epilepsy

    1. Living with epilepsy
    2. Myths and misconceptions
    3. Discussing epilepsy and reasonable adjustments
    4. Seizure types and first aid
    5. Employer support

The modules are easily completed online and a generic certificate of completion will be provided at the end of the course.
