The brain is like a big computer. Sometimes, like your computer, the brain can jumble up the messages it sends and receives, and this is what happens in a person with epilepsy. When this happens, the person can have a ‘seizure’. That means they could fall down, shout, or jerk about - it is nothing to be scared of but it’s good to know what to do if this happens.
It is also important to remember that people with epilepsy that is well controlled, can do the same things as everyone else.
