62nd Annual General Meeting NOTICE OF AGM & CALL FOR: NOMINATIONS FOR BOARD, COMMISSIONERS AND REMITS

Epilepsy Association of New Zealand is a not-for-profit organisation providing an information and support service within the community to enhance the life of people with epilepsy by working with people who have epilepsy, their families, health and educational professionals, employees and wider community groups.
AGM Notice:
Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Epilepsy Association of New Zealand will be held at:
Sudima Hotel, Auckland Airport,
18 Airpark Drive, Mangere, Auckland 2020
on 28th of September 2018
at 1.00pm
Epilepsy Association of New Zealand holds the AGM for the following purposes:
- Receive and consider the annual report of the Association
- Approve a specification of the competencies required of the Commissioners and Members of the Board
- Elect Commissioners
- Receive the result of the ballot for the election of Board Members;
- Appoint an auditor for Association accounts;
- Consider such other matters as the Board may specify in the agenda to be circulated; and
- Consider remits to amend this Constitution and other motions which have been approved by the Commissioners for consideration as matters relating to Association governance.
Call for Life Member Nominations:
Members are invited to submit nominations to be put forward for Life Membership Award. Epilepsy Association of New Zealand wishes to pay tribute to an individual Member to recognise their outstanding efforts at a National level. There is ONE position available.
We ask you to nominate a Member that has done more than “that little bit extra” for Epilepsy New Zealand. For example they may have:
- Raised awareness
- Fundraised
- Contributed either at a local or national level
- Given outstanding volunteer service over a period of time
Call for Board Member Nominations:
The Epilepsy Association of New Zealand Board is looking for TWO exceptional individuals, preferably with previous governance experience in not-for-profit organisations, to join their nationwide team.
The Board is seeking people who have a high competency level and experience in the following areas:
- Marketing and fundraising understanding within the not-for-profit sector
- Sound legal/financial accounting practice understanding
- No conflict of interest
- Qualified Officer as per Charities Services rules
- An empathy with epilepsy
- Experience in election process
- Good understanding of Constitutional law including the Treaty of Waitangi
For the purposes of the 62nd AGM Board Member election, the Board encourages people with a background in the following to complement the governance of Epilepsy Association of New Zealand:
- Accounting
- Marketing
- Business Management
- Equal Opportunity Employment

Call for Commissioner Nominations
The Epilepsy Association of New Zealand Board is looking for ONE exceptional individual with extensive negotiation and constitutional law experience to join their nationwide team.
The Board is seeking a person who has a high competency level and experience in the following areas:
- Previous governance experience in not-for-profit organisations
- Sound legal/financial accounting practice understanding
- No conflict of interest
- Qualified Officer as per Charities Services rules
- An empathy with epilepsy
- Experience in election process
- Good understanding of Constitutional law including the Treaty of Waitangi
- Experience and skills in mediation

Entitlement to Attend and Vote
You must be a current financial paid up member to vote. A member may appoint another member attending to vote as the absent member directs by completing a proxy form.
The results of nominations obtained will be distributed 20 August 2018. Please help us by ensuring that we have your correct email address. In using electronic mail we are able to accelerate communications and save costs to the association. In addition we help the environment just a little bit. Simply email Anneleen on admin.nsc@epilepsy.org.nz or Anne on info@epilepsy.org.nz to ensure we have your details correct.
